Ground Test

After successfully wiring and programming INAV, it is important to perform ground checks to ensure everything functions as expected. This page covers some key checks that should be considered and conducted prior to the maiden flight.

INAV Functions Checklist​

Once the hardware check is complete, confirm that INAV works as expected. With the aircraft powered on:

  • In Angle mode, tilt the airplane on its axes and confirm control surfaces move to counter the direction
  • Confirm all control surfaces work as expected when sending commands from the radio
  • If using autolaunch, turn it off and confirm motor control works when the aircraft is armed (props off!)

Airplane Setup Checklist​

  • Ensure battery mounting area is strong and secure
  • Identify center of gravity (CG) and balance plane with battery
  • Ensure all control surface linkages are secure and centered
  • Confirm that control surfaces move in correct directions
  • Ensure there are no short circuits with a smoke stopper
  • Perform ground taxi test if airplane has landing gears

Once the fundamental functions checks have been completed, it will be ready for a line of sight maiden flight.
